BBC 1's The Apprentice

I’ve just had one of our artists, Vanessa Warren drop some work off in the gallery. Late last year Vanessa was short listed and later selected to feature in an episode of BBC 1’s ‘The Apprentice’: due to air Wednesday 25th April.

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the set up of the series where the team of young entrepreneurs battle through a series of tasks in order to prove their worth to Sir Alan Sugar. In this episode the two teams had to put on an exhibition, each featuring two photographers work and see who could sell the most.

Working alongside Vanessa was fun and a great chance to get a sneak preview of some of the apprentices. Most had little understanding about art and were struggling to suppress their money driven attitude when talking to Vanessa – I’m interested to see the episode after it has been edited!

We’ve just hung a selection of Vanessa’s work in the entrance of the gallery and it looks stunning – such vivid colours! Come and see!

Everyone here at Eyestorm is excited to be finally getting in to our new office on Hill Street, after the move from the South Bank in December. Being located in Mayfair, the ‘gallery hub’ of London, is an exciting step forward for Eyestorm and we look forward to opening a brand new gallery in the area in the next few months.

As well as new premises for 2008, we have a new place to store and dispatch our artwork and lots of new work on the horizon, from both new and existing artists, so keep an eye out, especially for the new exclusive limited edition prints we have planned for the coming months.

Our move to the new premises meant that orders of artwork were put on hold until the end of January. Now in February, we are dispatching orders as normal again and so customers can expect to see the delivery of any art purchased in January in the next three weeks.

If you would like to be the first to know about new publications, new work and new artists at Eyestorm, make sure you sign up to our email newsletter here.

You can also add your favourite artwork to your own wishlist so that you don’t forget the work you like.

All of the team at Eyestorm thank you for being patient with us during the relocation.

Here’s to an exciting 2008! Watch this space.

One Point Plan for the Prevention of Male Pattern Baldness, 2007 by David Bray

My first blog

Website launch. Launch to me sounds like something Nasa would be involved in, shame we can’t have a rocket taking off from Southbank to mark the occasion.

The word ‘launch’ has only one letter different from the word ‘lunch’ – one of my very favourite things. Project managing a new website is a bit like dealing with one of those ridiculously long sandwiches that pop up in American cartoons – a bit of an effort to eat, takes a long time but is ultimately extremely satisfying. Except this sandwich sometimes has unexpected ingredients, like a paperclip or dirt, tucked in amongst the tuna and sun-dried tomatoes. And every now and then a chunk of something greasy drops into your lap and ruins your skirt.

Finally though the new website is here and what a thing of delight it is. After a long time of consuming the same dry egg sandwiches (filling but not thrilling), we’ve got a veritable smorgasboard on offer and it is very, very, very exciting. It might not come with a packet of crisps and a fizzy drink yet but we have exciting plans to make it into a very substantial meal indeed.

So tuck in and enjoy – hope you find it satisfying.

Why Blog?
Eyestorm has been the market leader for limited edition prints since the web was in its infancy, so over time we've become pretty opinionated on a bunch of art-related issues. So while we're here to provide you with the best art you can buy, we also wanted a flexible space through which to share our experience of working in the frenetic, ever-accelerating market for contemporary art. So this is it. The Eyestorm blog. Ups, downs, news, views and reviews.
